Dermal / skin fillers

Dermal/Skin fillers are used to correct facial imperfections caused by Ageing normally evidenced by thinning of the skin, folds and wrinkle lines appearing. Fillers are also used to enhance natural beauty by creating augmentation and enhancements to lips, cheeks and chin. Fillers can also be used to replenish fat loss to the skin creating more volume and a fuller face.

The choice of filler required careful consideration and the practitioner will advise at time of your consultation which dermal filler is best suited to your skin appearance and the effect the client wishes to create.

At Hampshire Laser Clinic we can provide a range of dermal fillers to suit your needs. Dermal/Skin fillers are a form of Hyaluronic acid that naturally occurs in your skin. We ensure that these products have been properly tested to be safe and effective, approved and widely used before the offer them to our clients. The following are the most popular that we currently use.

Restylane Information

As Restylane is the market leader the following information focuses on this product in an attempt to best explain some of the issues and decisions that needs to be considered when contemplating dermal/skin fillers.

Where can Restylane be used?
Restylane is typically used to improve the skin's contour and reduce depressions caused by scars, wrinkles or lines. namely:

. Forehead lines
. Crow's feet at the corner of the eyes.
. Nasolabial lines that run from side of nose to edge of mouth.
. Lines around mouth, both smoker's lines above lips and Marionette lines at
corners of mouth.
. Cheek implants.
. Acne scars.
. Lip enhancement.
. Frown line between the eyes brows.

Treatment facts and what you may be wondering
RESTYLANE is an effective and long-lasting alternative. Gaining the look you desire is as easy as it is quick. And the results are instantaneous. No pretesting is needed and a session often takes less than 30 minutes.

Depending on the effects desired, an initial treatment is usually maintained with occasional follow-up treatments. For wrinkle treatments no pain relief is generally necessary, however it can be easily arranged at your request. When enhancing the lips, pain relief in the form of a local anaesthetic is often used.

During treatment the crystal-clear gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very thin needle. The gel then gives natural volume and smoothes the wrinkles. The ability of RESTYLANE products to integrate with adjacent tissues allows the free passage of vital nutritive elements like oxygen and hormones to pass between fragments of the gel. The result is healthy, natural looking skin.

After the treatment some common injection-related reactions may occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the implant site. These typically resolve spontaneously within one to two days after injection into the skin and within a week after injection into the lips.

Other types of reactions are very rare, but about 1 in 2000 treated patients have experienced localized reactions thought to be of a hypersensitivity nature. These have usually consisted of swelling at the implant site, sometimes affecting the surrounding tissues. Redness, tenderness and rarely acne-like formations have also been reported. These reactions have either started a few days after injection or after a delay of two to four weeks, and have generally been described as mild to moderate and self-limiting with an average duration of two weeks.

Lip augmentation

Over the years lips lose their substance and volume, thinning and retracting. The use of a dermal filler will, in a totally natural but not definitive way, restore the volume and sensuality of the lips.
